ISA PROJECT 2019-20
LIBRARY -BEYOND BOOKS, BEYOND BOUNDARIES
The project was announced on the International Book Day (23rd April 2019) in the School's Special Assembly. The whole school took the Reading Pledge to promote reading, books and library usage. To encourage the voracious Readers for the Session 2018-19, the Reader Badges were awarded. The winners of the ISA Project 2018-19 were also awarded on this occasion.
Activities:
a. CLASS VII: "MYTHS AND LEGENDS: A DIGITAL REPERTOIRE"
Each section of Class VII researched myths and legends of the country allotted. The students digitized the legends in Photo Story Software which is kept as library entities. They organized Story Telling Sessions for the underprivileged children followed by distribution of self-designed colourful masks. They showcased their creativity by depicting the cultural heritage of the country allotted on the Class-Display Boards.

· All the students made self-designed, colourful masks related to the legends of the county allotted. These masks were later gifted to the under-privileged students after the Story Session.
b. CLASS VIII: BOOK DISCUSSION on HARRY POTTER SERIES
Critical Appreciation and Analytical Discussions on Books from the Harry Potter Series with special reference to gender equality were conducted in the respective classes of Grade VIII. The students created digital documents wherein they did Video Recording of the Book Discussions done in the Classes. The ambience of the classes was set accordingly.

LIBRARY PROJECT FOR THE YEAR 2017-18
Theme-ENCYCLOPAEDIA : KNOWLEDGE AND USAGE
Carrying forward the school's tradition to celebrate International Book Day, the students take the
Reading Pledge and the annual Literary Carnival commences. To make Reference reading more
alluring rather than forbidding , the theme chosen for the project is Encyclopaedia: Knowledge and Usage.
Colourful introduction to the word ENCYCLOPAEDIA to class I and informative Library Sessions for Class II give the tiny tots a fair idea about this kaleidoscopic reference resource of the library. Word power games and creative book covers done by the students of Classes III – V add a complete flavour to the whole project.

This project based on Reference Reading with special emphasis on Encyclopaedia ignited curiosity in the minds of young readers. The Faculty and the Librarians trained the primary students about the usage of Encylopaedia and allied books. As a Prelude, the Reading Pledge set the tune of the Project. The students of Class I were introduced to the World of Encyclopaedia through colouring activity. The students of Class II got first hand experience in exploring the Reference Section of the Library. The Third Graders enriched their vocabulary by participating in Word Games based on the mother word “Encyclopaedia”. The students of Classes IV and V expressed their creativity and knowledge of Encyclopaedias through wonderful Book Cover Designing. The Project has made this richest reference resource accissible and understable to the Young Readers.

“ALL THE WORLD’S A STAGE”: A project based on Shakespearean Plays
(Celebrating the Shakespearean quatercentenary )
Aimed at Classes: 6-10
The project aims at appreciating the Shakespearean plays and their relevance even after 400 years of his death.
Class VI: Movies based on Shakespearean Play – “The Tempest”. In Holidays Homework, read the play, watch the movies based on it. Later fill a Questionnaire.

THEME: REALM OF FAIRY
TALES
BRIEF DESCRIPTION :
To expand the horizon of book reading and to associate it with library in
such a way that students can flock to the library in their own interest, we
started our journey on the most auspicious day for book lovers i.e. World Book
Day(23rd April,2014). With
the promising note of Reading Pledge to read ‘Each day and each night’ as it is
the key to ‘growing right’ we planned our activity. Apart from taking Reading Pledge students
enthusiastically took part in Book Review writing and Book Pyramid Activities. The students of Classes I and II tried their
hands in ‘Colouring the Fairytale Characters’.
The students of classes III and IV showed their collective skill in
‘Classroom Decoration’ flying with creativity.
The students of Class V unleashed their imagination in a voyage called ‘Take
Me to the Fairyland’ where they put their favourite fairytale characters in the
background of their choice. The aim of
all these activities was to inculcate reading habit and optimise the use of
library.

DESCRIPTION:
To
support reading and attract more visitors to the library, we celebrated World
Book Day as a ‘Birthday' of our favourite cultural asset- BOOKS on April
23, 2013. The students took the reading pledge on this day. The winners of the
Library Project 2012 were awarded with books in the School Assembly. The
students of Class VIII prepared Class Notice Boards with the theme relating to
Fantasy Books. In this inter-class activity, the students displayed Book Reviews,
Story Illustrations, Book Covers, Poems and Quotations from the books of the
popular genre- fantasy. An interesting activity- “WHO AM I”, based on
the characters of the book Gulliver’s Travels, motivated the students of Class IX to read their
English Supplementary Reader for pleasure. Class VII students had a
reveling time playing “Matching Games” where they matched the titles with
authors and characters from the world of fantasy books.
REPORT:
Library Project (2013-14)
Every
year, we create activities to help the school celebrate the essential role that
libraries play in a student’s educational career. The 2013 theme was “ENTER
THE REALM OF DELIGHTFUL FANTASY.” Some of the books from the literary
genre- fantasy were given as Suggested Reading for the Project.
International Book Day- To mark this event, a special Assembly was conducted
by the School Principal. What a
fantastic first day of the yearlong competitions and events! The highlight of
the day was the grand Award Ceremony where we celebrated our students’
achievements in “Let’s be Bibliophiles” – Library Project 2012-13. I was
thrilled to see the students and faculty taking the Reading Pledge and
propagating our message that reading is a great form of entertainment.
Class VIII students were instrumental in communicating the importance of this message by
displaying Class Notice Boards with giant Book Covers, Book Reviews, Book
Marks, Slogans on Reading, Story illustrations and other book craft ideas.
While conducting this activity, I observed that the participants reflected their love of the written word and had a good time. I began to
wonder what the outcome would have been if I had not restricted their
creativity with a particular theme.
Colourful and
eye-catching sheets portraying the characters from Gulliver’s Travels with
marvellous drawings and powerful adjectives filled everyone with awe. The most
interesting feature of the activity was the one when the students posed the
challenge to identify the characters and their classmates brainstormed for the
correct answers. We got the sheets spiral-bound to create Character Scrapbooks
and displayed them in the Library as a resource for Class IX English Novel. Class VII students became
well-versed with new authors, books and their characters to play the Matching
Game.
Students gained awareness about
various places and empathised with a variety of cultures.
One of the significant
accomplishments of the project was that the bond between library and the
faculty grew much stronger over the course of the year. We appreciated the
importance of peer recommendation for students and encouraged the book lovers
among them to spread word about their favourite books. Students were empowered to step up and take the lead
or work as a group with others taking the initiative. The project gave a
new meaning to reading and reinforced that Library is an amazing resource.

Being a Harry Potter book series enthusiast, it was intriguing to see young students explaining and comparing social issues like gender equality with the famous J K Rowling's series. It is nice to see the engagement of student and teachers to discuss what young minds think about such societal evils.
